Visual information of moving water is translated into piano notes, while figure-masking creates a window from the viewer's silhouette to the resulting optical flow images and influences the tempo and the velocity of the piano notes. Looking at the sea through a window, the breaking of waves into surf suggests the sounds of the sea, even if they are not heard. This work converts the optical flow information from a video of waves breaking on a beach into piano notes.

mixed media: camera, Jitter with OpenCV, sound. Dimensions variable.
