A found rock and an aluminum wire robotic sculpture are placed in contrast to one another in order to offer the viewer an opportunity to compare the two. They are presented on identical pedestals, and the robot and the rock are identical in size. Both their similarities and differences make viewers consider the nature of materiality, interactivity and relationships. Although the rock remains still, its physical relationship with the viewer constantly varies; the meaning of the rock within the piece changes depending on this relationship. In this way, the rock and the robot fulfill the same role, though one is passive and the other active.
